[back] HOW TO BE HEALED
There is no reason why any sufferer, no matter what his ailment may be, cannot be healed. Try as you might, you will be able to think of no alibi for failure that will stand the test of human reasoning.
"Why is it then," the question is often asked, "that some are healed and some are not?" This problem has baffled metaphysicians, doctors, scientists, and the sufferers themselves for years, probably for ages. After many failures, some have found the answer and then have been healed. As completely as possible in this limited space the answer is given to you.
Healing is the result of spiritual illumination, consciously or unconsciously produced. The success, or failure, of healing lies within the individual who is seeking it. The Christ himself could not heal you unless you were the possessor of that illumination. By some, it is produced alone-they heal themselves; some need the help of an outside agency-they heal themselves through using a healer or a doctor.
"Yes," say the doubters, "but you have to have faith." Certainly-and do you know what faith is? One thing it is not is the blind belief that you can be cured. This sort of faith has never even cured a simple headache. Faith is the knowledge that you will be cured. This, the only usable faith, is spiritual illumination, an understanding of certain unfailing laws that keep you well, or make you well when you are sick. When used, it works for everyone-there is no failure.
But still there are doubters who ask, "How about incurable diseases?" Is there such a thing as an incurable disease? Isn't it true that every disease known to mankind has been cured? Some of them in rare instances, it is true, but all of them have been cured so all of them can be cured.
The "How?" that follows this is less a question than a challenge. You can answer the challenge as a living example of the curative powers placed within yourself by an unfathomable but understanding God. If the first of the methods given herein does not apply to your particular case, read on, never turn back or give up, for one of them will surely furnish the right key to your problem.
You will be well on the road to recovery when you realize that no one is going to perform a miracle for you. There is no person, or persons, who will be able to use some mystic word and give you instant health. The magician's "abracadabra" which instantly transfers a beautiful girl just sawed in half back into one piece again has no place in restoring health of body and peace of mind to you. The only way you can acquire health is to prepare for it. There is no magic to it--the use of your own mind in its application of unchangeable, universal laws is the method of obtaining health.
Whenever use of the mind is mentioned there are many who agree outwardly but fail to practice inwardly. They assert their belief but fail to affirm it. Your assertion becomes objectified by active affirmation. When it is realized that all the benefits man has he owes to his use of mind, then vou will have a greater determination to really use your mind. Your mind, far from being small or weak, has within it the same potentialities of the greatest mind ever known. These potentialities are brought into play, with resulting health, only by practice.
It may come slowly at first or it may be instant. It comes according to the degree of faith, or knowledge of the law. In some places the Christ could not heal because of the people's unbelief. In others he worked miracles because they understood his work. Just the determination to try will result in a noticeable improvement. This improvement will continue as the determination is carried into actual practice. The following suggestions on using your mind will help you heal yourself or be healed by another instrumentality.
Have you ever noticed that those who talk about their illnesses are the ones who have the most of them? We all like sympathy, but the continuous talking about sickness results in sickness itself. This sort of talk sets up both auric and mental vibrations of ill health. What else but .sickness can come from them? The first rule, then, is not to talk about your illness. There are millions of pleasanter conversational topics, any one of which will create a cherry, healthful vibration around you. Use them.
If you are not confined to your bed but find yourself in pain, go to a movie, visit your library, indulge in your hobby, or paint the kitchen chairs. Losing yourself in an activity or another sphere of thought will drive away your pain. If you are confined to bed, read a good book or magazine and the results will be the same. Do not disregard this method until you have given it an honest trial, then when you judge the idea your only opinion will be that it works.
The above method does not necessarily heal by itself,. but it heals indirectly through changing thought consciousness. You have no pain unless you live on its mental level and are conscious of it. You are not sick unless you live on its plane of consciousness.
This leads directly to the method of healing.
It is done by elevating yourself to the level of consciousness where
pain and disease do not exist. This
mental plane, known as Christ consciousness, transfers itself to the physical
plane upon which your disease lives, overpowers that disease and replaces it
with health. It is a triumph of higher and finer vibrations over the
lower. There is no person who cannot
accomplish this except those who do not understand it. Some understand it subconsciously, and some
are unwilling to understand it. It is
within the grasp of everyone who has the courage to seek for it through
spiritual illumination.
The
lepers, the lame, the halt and
blind, those who were in pain and those who were sick at heart, healed by the
Christ, received their health and strength through raising
themselves to that plane of thought on which his healing powers worked. His powers were not material, but
spiritual. Through faith, knowledge
that the law would work, these Biblical people were healed, and so you may be
in exactly the same way. It is mental the use of a positive will--bringing about the seeming miracles that
so much of the world believes lost.
They are lost only to those who so believe. The truth is still usable to those who "believe on
Him," or believe in His teachings.
Remember: every
person can be healed; every disease is curable; spiritual illumination is the
pathway to health; faith is the knowledge that you will be cured; no other
person will perform a miracle for you, you will perform it yourself; even
though you are in pain, think and converse upon pleasant subjects and pain will
disappear; raise your consciousriess to the Christ level and health is yours.
Due to limited space these suggestions on How To Be
Healed are necessarily very brief. If
you wish to make further study of this subject the book, "In Tune With the
Infinite," by Ralph Waldo
Trine, is highly recommended.
