HEAL ME!

Can I Be Healed?

"HEAL ME!" has been the heart wrung plea of untold thousands of sufferers whose plight has been unrelieved by the common methods of therapeutics.  Be not afraid.  You can be healed.

Yes, you can be healed by the very same methods that Jesus used, for He said, "He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do." (See St. John 14:12.) These are encouraging and inspiring words to every sufferer, for from them you gain the assurance that health and peace may be yours.

How Can I Be Healed?

JESUS HEALED by prayer and the magnetic flow of health and strength that accompanies the laying on of hands.  So great was this force, with Him, that some had only to touch the hem of His garments to be cured of their disease.  All the research of science has not found a type of healing that will cure as quickly, as completely, and with less pain, as these two tried and tested methods.  A type of healing has never been found that can accomplish, no matter what the disease, such amazing cures.  The Divine Healers of the Spiritualist Episcopal Church are all instructed to use these methods, with full confidence in the words of Jesus that satisfactory results will be obtained.

                                                            Is Healing a Miracle?

TO SOME, the healing of a disease is a miracle.  Some say the age of miracles is past.  They say that these feats of healing are accomplished by the natural law of God.  In so saying, they are telling the truth, but, healing will always be a miracle.  Not that the cure of any one case is miraculous, but the fact that it is being done day after day by thousands of healers all over the world is truly amazing.  It cannot be comprehended in all its vastness and greatness.  It is a marvelous exhibition of Divine Truth, and, wonder of wonders, it can happen to you.

Who Does the Healing?

ONE OF THE MOST atrocious and cruel claims of some religions of today is that anyone who heals is doing the work of the devil.  Strangely enough, an exact parallel can be found in the ministry of Jesus.  As great a healer as He was, the Bible tells how some accused Him of casting out devils (healing) through the power of Beelzebub, the prince of devils.  Read this story in your Bible.  See St. Matthew 12:24; St. Mark 3:22-29; and St. Luke 11:15-20.

Modern day "scribes" and "Pharisees" are as blind to truth, and as ignorant, as those of Jesus' time.  If you were told that you were being healed by the grace of God, why would the devil want to heal you? (Wouldn't he want to keep you sick to show his superiority?) Such a supposition is ridiculous, and only shows a lack of clear vision and logic on the part of those who make these absurd statements.  You have every right to health and strength, and God, working through the hands of men, such as Jesus and the healers of modern times, will grant it to you.  The healing power is Divine; but this power must be directed and manifested through the instrumentality of an

intermediary, i.e., a healing medium.

                                                            Ancient Healing

IN VIEW OF THE wonderful results that can be received, it is indeed regrettable that many sects have seen fit to discard the noble, divine profession of healing.  The type of healing with which Jesus accomplished His seeming miracles has been used, at some time or other, by every branch of humankind.  It is the one universal type of healing that has withstood the test of time and the fancies of human nature.

Nearly four thousand years ago, rulers healed people of their diseases by the laying on of hands.  This "laying on of hands" is the first healing agent of which we have any authentic record, and, though it was first used so many years ago, we still use it, successfully, today.  Though many types of healing have since been developed, it is interesting to note how frequently we go back and use that first method, the one Jesus used, one that can heal you, the laying on of hands,

                                                                                Modern Healing

IN MORE MODERN TIMES, this type of healing was brought to prominence by Mesmer.  It was he who recognized, and brought to the attention of the scientific world, the fact that there is a definite healing force that can be made to flow from the body of the healer, especially the palms and fingertips, to the body of the patient, (Most doctors will now admit there is healing value in what they are pleased to call "hot hands.") Though he attained a large practice, with many cures, Mesmer's final reward was ridicule-the same re-

ward that was given to Jesus.

But what if others do ridicule the healer? In their haste and in their blindness, they have not looked at the records, there to see that healing really works.  Is this any reason why you should not reap the benefits of God's unchangeable laws-- of the example set by Jesus-the freedom from pain that thousands of your generation are enjoying after hours of misery?

Authority of the Church

ACCORDING TO RELIGIOUS LEADERS, one of the outstanding functions of religion is the healing of sick souls.  If we are to follow the leadership of Jesus, it must also be a function of religion to heal the sick body, which is the instrument of the soul.

In writing to the Corinthians, Paul said, "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.  For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit."

In this same Chapter (12) of  lst Corinthians, Paul also said, "And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." So it is easily seen that the founders of Christianity firmly believed that healing was one of the important functions of the church.

The Spiritualist Episcopal Church, recognizing the power of healing, knowing that it is a gift of the Spirit, "given to every man to profit withal," believing, as Paul did, that it is one of the offices of the church, encourages healing for your benefit, and that of all mankind, and strives to give every possible help to healer and sufferer alike.

                                                            Bible Stories of Healing

THE BIBLE is full of stories of healing.  Jesus healed the withered hand, the lepers, the crippled man, the woman with an issue of blood, the son of the centurion, the lame, the halt, and the blind.  He healed the multitudes.  In His name, Paul relieved many sufferers.

These stories, and many others, are yours to read in your Bible.  And as you lead them, remember that even greater works are promised those who believe.

St. Matthew 4:23, 24; 8:5-13 (Absent .Healing); 9:2-7; 9:18-25 (2 cases); 9:27-30; 12:10-13; 14:35, 36.

St. Mark 2:1-12; 3:1-5; 5:25-42; 6:5;

10:46-52.

  St. Luke 4:38-40; 8:41-56; 22:50, 51.

  St. John 5:2-9; 9:1-7; 11: 1-45.

 Acts 3:1.-12; 9:32-41; 14:8-10; 19:12.

These are just a very few of the recorded instances of healing in the Holy Bible.  There are nearly sixty in the New Testament alone.  These feats are augmented by thousands upon thousands of similar cases, down through the lives of men to the present day.

"Heal me!" you say?  Be not afraid.  You can be healed!
